At this time of the year I worry that the bees will get too cold in their hives. My beekeeping mentor once said he was "knitting little sweaters for his bees." That's a good image. It reminds me of the sweet poignant artwork called The Boarders (Le Repos des pensionnaires) by Annette Messager in which she knitted sweaters for dead birds.
The wind has risen today and turned the melting snow into grey honeycombed pockets of ice. Are you warm enough? Are you insulated?
Temperature is currently 5 degrees C, wind warning for Vancouver with winds gusting up to 35km/hr.
