Hummingbird Baskets


I have been experimenting with my spring slow-craft, making little hummingbird baskets. Inspired by hummingbird nests, these little baskets can be filled with wool and seed fluff for hummingbirds to use in their nests. I made this out of windfall from a weeping willow tree. I soaked the willow before working with it. I'll finish it by sewing up the top layer of wool.


Pacific bleeding hearts are blooming on the forest floor near the West Point Grey Community Centre. This is a beautiful shade plant you can grow in Vancouver. There is a white cultivar that is really beautiful. Here are some more photos documenting this week at Aberthau:
